The Pleiades

This bright cluster is located in Taurus. Because of it’s shape some people confuse this with the Little Dipper (Ursa minor), which is comparatively dim and unimpressive. Blue color is from reflection of starlight off of cool dust and gas nearby. The brightness of the stars and the dimness of the dust make this a tough one to shoot well. In the last 5 years, I’ve taken 3 pictures of it. I’m sure this won’t be my last.
